This is really two stories in one book, one of them taking us back to the early days of the group, one following the events of the previous book, and both telling the story of the complicated courtship of Sabetha and Locke. It's lacking the grand complicated scheme whose cleverness only becomes apparent in the final stages when it seems doomed to fail that made me fall in love with the series.
