Fulminata reviewed Did Jesus Exist? by Bart D. Ehrman
Review of 'Did Jesus Exist?' on 'Goodreads'
3 stars
The argument, by a self-described agnostic, for the historical existence of a man named Jesus in the first Century who was crucified by Pontius Pilate. The reasoning that he uses to get to that point won't please many fundamentalists, but from a scholarly perspective it seems convincing.
As readable as the author's other works, but somewhat less interesting for the simple reason that very few people doubt the existence of a historical Jesus to begin with, whatever their religious views. Enough do doubt that existence to justify the book, but his systematic dismantling of the "mythicist's" arguments tend to get a bit repetitive after a while. It's justified because he's attempting to deal with each issue they bring up, but it still gets a bit tedious at times.
