4 stars

To write a book over 1000 pages you gotta have quite the ego, you must think yourself an amazing writer if you think you can hold a readers attention that long....so how big does your ego have to be to write a HORROR story that is over 1000 pages? King must be one of the only writers with big enough balls to do it....and he comes so close to pulling it off (the story not his balls).

This book is epic and incredibly complex covering two different time-frames and done in such a way that the reader doesn't get lost. I think it will also go down as having one of the most amazing endings ever written, the scale of what he achieves in the last 200 pages is hard to grasp at first, when I finished the last page I suddenly realised just how much mad shit had happened.

Some very clever, scary writing. What stops it getting 5 stars from me is how drawn out it feels, once I'd finished the book it all felt necessary but still I had to take a couple of breaks to stop myself giving up.

I think this following South Park clip sums up this book perfectly, it contains the reminiscing, the racism and homophobia.
