I always think that when a book is considered a classic that it will be above my head and I won't understand the language. It may have been the translation of this book being done so well but I loved this book.

It is as good as any crime novel I have ever read. The battle of the minds between Raskolnikov and Porfiry was brilliant, I thought it was great that you have no idea what was going on in Porfiry's head.

I did struggle a bit at times as I felt the reader was being given too much information on the background stories of certain characters, but as the story was wrapping itself up I realised that most of it was necessary.

Gonna try War and Peace now. hehe
