Review of 'Sister' on 'Storygraph'

5 stars

I'm not sure I can say enough good things about this book. It blew my mind. And it's the second adult fiction DEBUT to do so this year. I love how the main character basically writes a love letter to her sister. We see how Beatrice discovers the best parts of herself by revealing some of her most irritating foibles to her younger sister. We learn early on that her younger sister, Tess, is dead-thought by most of her acquaintances to have committed suicide, but Beatrice is convinced otherwise. Okay, that's about all I can say without spoiling anything. Seriously amazing book. It's sort of a literary murder mystery, with a strong emphasis on literary. Beautiful, heartbreaking and mind blowing in execution. Damn, I wish I could write like this!
