Just couldn’t get past the normalization of the teenaged protagonist being bought by the magus at a slave auction to be his apprentice/wife and how that was treated as just kind of “a weird thing that happened but hey he’s a real nice guy” instead of the actual horrible practice it is.

Terrible foundation for what I’m assuming is going to be a slow romance between the centuries old cattle skull wizard and his high school slave bride.
