Beautiful, timeless, and, most of all, practical instruction in awareness meditation and loving kindness meditation drawing from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, but without requiring any knowledge (or embrace) of Buddhist faith. All of the principles are laid out in very clear terms, and followed with very specific practices you can do to bring these principles in to your meditation practice and daily life. A great read for beginners and experienced meditators, Buddhists and non-Buddhists.
The one warning I'll offer is that this book has a lot of material that you will also find in his other book (and course), The Joy of Living. There is certainly new and reworked material in this book, but there are a lot of things that will be very familiar, especially if you have recently read JoL.
