Review of 'Mistborn : the Wax and Wayne Series' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
What a great idea, to jump a few hundred years ahead for a "steampunk Mistborn" that explores how this system of magic interacts with nascent industrial development (although that mostly was expressed by depicting what the swooping fights of the original books would become with the presence and use of firearms). I'm looking forward to the next few books in this series, although I'll be reading some of his other books first, and I'd like to see more fantasy writers do this, taking it into the electronic age as well. And it was fun to have beloved characters from the original trilogy appear in the form of place names and omnipotent interference in the events of the plot. The new characters are still pretty one-note, though.
