This book has some interesting things to say about grief. But the author is trying, unsuccessfully, to be funny, and I found reading through the attempts to be both exhausting and irritating (and pretty gruesome, honestly). Not recommended.

GG finished reading In the Country of Others by Leila Slimani
I hated this book. I only finished it for my book club. 2 stars instead of 1 because I thought the constantly shifting perspective among the characters was an interesting way to demonstrate that each of us, ultimately, lives our whole lives in the country of others. But the plot was alternately boring and infuriating, and no plotlines are never resolved. It’s an interesting meditation on colonialism, I guess, but I would not recommend it.
