Clearly a product of 1912, but still plenty of fun. There were several points where I had trouble staying in the story due to the fact that it was set on Mars, about which we have learned a great deal in the past 96 years. For example, I chuckled every time I heard mention of the moss that ostensibly covered the planet. The book also shows a 1910's sensibility regarding gender roles and behavior, which can be hard to get around. If you can managed to get past that, though, A Princess of Mars is a delightfully fun adventure, and a great summer read for sci-fi/fantasy fans.
