Review of 'The Winter Sea' on 'Goodreads'

This was a re-reading because I just got "The Firebird" and heard that it was kind of a sequel to this book. I read "The Winter Sea" over a year ago and forgot nearly everything. The only thing I could remember is that I loved the book. Not as much as my all-time-favourite "Mariana" but nevertheless it was another wonderful story by Susanne Kearsley.
Well, now, after re-reading the book I love it even more. How could I forgot so much? This story is not only beautifully written, it is so well constructed - the details fit so well. The characters are great! Also, I love the "esoterical touch" in Susanna's books. The stories live in their own world, you travel through times, lifes and countries - it is comforting and a pleasure to read them. In this book you learn a lot about the history in England/Scotland, too.
Well well, I can highly recommend this book and of course my favourite Kearsley novels "Mariana" and "Rosehill". Now I am looking forward to read "The Firebird" because I have already went through some pages and indeed recognised some names from this book. YAY!
