The Fall whirls through a half-formed world of confessions from the opening offer of help to the final assurance that there's no need to worry because "it is too late now, it will always be too late. Thank goodness!" It feels like Alice in Wonderland retold for the generation that saw Auschwitz and Hiroshima - the search for meaning in a meaningless world, and eventually redemption if you can accept it.
