Formulaic pandering to teenager fantasy!
I would highly recommend this book to any teenager wanting a romance or fantasy, especially any fan of Cassandra Clare or the Selection Series. The writing is fine, the plot moves fast, the characters reasonably interesting. It is just absurd to read as an adult, so I must say this rating might be a little biased... The one-girl, 2 loves theme once again, the get rich and wear beautiful clothes theme, the she is so tough except when it is sexy to get saved thing.... Not to mention 'girl meets (500 years old) boy' love story. It was disturbing in Twilight, and is a bit silly here. Especially since said ancient one looks and acts like a teenager. The petty jealousies, the posturing, the near-sex misses, those elements take up too many pages. However, the monsters are excellent, and I just like fairies, and when I was young, I thought Mr. Rochester was hot, so whatever works. It is definitely popular with our students.
