Across America in the Old Days
4 stars
In the summer of 1919, straight out of the hospital after WWI, a British RAF officer decided to get the war out of his system by crossing America on a motorcycle. No one alive at the present time (2023) can conceive of the state of American roads in 1919. Eye-opening and fascinating. Highly recommended.

Before highways, when American roads were pretty much just mud, a British flyer straight out of hospital after WWI decided to cross America on a motorcycle in the summer of 1919. A truly foolhardy plan at the time as the book makes abundantly, and entertainingly, very clear. Highly recommended for those who appreciate the prose of non-literary writers.
