Review of 'Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)' on 'Storygraph'
4 stars
Stiefvater's quick sense of humor, well-turned prose, likeable characters, and believable conflicts turn what could've been just another paranormal teen romance into a truly enjoyable read. And I say this as someone with no interest in that genre (and certainly none in the execrable Twilight series).
The innovation of making lycanthropy a seasonal problem, rather than a lunar one, was intriguing. Stiefvater writes like someone with a great deal of research and people-watching under her belt. Will absolutely be seeking out the next novel in this series.
