New here. I am a terrible reader! I am slow, inconsistent, and often quit a book about half way. I struggle with fiction, but still would like to keep trying. I prefer audiobooks, probably because of ADHD. I am open to tips on how to best use this platform.

Jeneva Rose: One of Us Is Dead (2022, Blackstone Audio, Incorporated)

A smooth and fun read

I got through this on audio as I worked on a tough project and the characters and setting hooked me right away. It starts by establishing some nauseating social dynamics and bad-guys. The story and writing style is engaging, and the characters were interesting but the villain was over-the-top and overwritten. This wasn't enough to take me out of the story but I am not sure if this is because i was listening to the story vs reading it. I am not sure I would have been invested enough to read this in a traditional book. The ending a bit flat and not very satisfying.

Interesting tale all the way to the end

this was an interesting story told in an interesting way. it was sometimes hard to keep up with the timeline or character who's perspective you are reading from, but it didn't take away from the story much for me.

Lisa Jewell: None of This Is True (Paperback, 2023, Atria Books)

A lot of times a books will start too slow in an effort to really build the characters and the world up. This book is efficient in getting you immediately curious about the strange relationships at the center of the story. the way this book is structured is very unique and adds to the sense of suspense and mystery. A great quick and fun read.

Lindsay C. Gibson: Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents (Paperback, 2015)

If you think this applies to you, read it.

This is the sort of book you read multiple times because there's so much to unpack. It contains so many examples for the reader to respond to and it spurs a lot of self-reflection. I would highly recommend it. It will give you the information you need to identify the behaviors associated with emotional immaturity and describes the tools you can use to limit how much the behaviors of others impact you emotionally. I would say this book will be cathartic to many but helpful and illuminating to everyone.
