This is mostly a book I'll read as research. The first few pages aren't super enticing to me. The authorship is meh, if and while I might develop some interest in the story, if it goes where I think it's headed, it's a little... too careful.

Another audiobook. There's gonna be an expanding number of these, because the voices and information in podcasts have worn me down and beaten me up.

So, I listened to this audiobook. And it was delightful. Humorous where it needed. Avoiding the more tragic stuff. I enjoyed the book, but it felt, at the end, like it might have been a touch more touching, a hand more gripping, a hard word more terse.

My greatest complaint, having listened to it, is the use of the word "said." Oh my goodness, use another word. Or no word at all. Every conversation was "blah" he said. "blah blah" she said.

I started this a few years back, while watching Sharp Objects on HBO; it didn't stick. Hopefully it will this time.

First go with an audiobook in a long time.

Never quite hitting the stride, for me, set by its predecessor, a good novel with enough mystery and paranormal to be fun without being dumb.

I'm re-reading this one, too. Zafón is too good at the job. I'm smiling, having just read the first chapter of this book.

One of my favorite books. I hardly ever re-read books, so that this is a re-read is quite the feat.

Will re-read this after I've completed my re-read of The Shadow of the Wind

I'll restart this when I've re-read the previous two books.

A rare re-read, I'm doing both of the Ruiz Zafron books that precede The Prisoner of Heaven. I loved it the first time I read it, and I remember why: that first chapter of the book is fucking everything.
