This series keeps impressing me. At times there are some clunky catching up sections (making it easier for readers to jump in mid series). It's not bad, but noticeable.

However, once things get moving, it is a ride. It's a cool way of learning animal facts. But also getting to know some great characters. They have fun adventures, but also ones they would prefer not to.

This one is no different. With some surprises I did not see coming. And really hit hard.

I guess it was time to cycle back around to Jake. And this was one hell of a way to do it. Not only thwarting a plan to take over the governor. But also Jake being infected by a yerk. And experiencing that loss of agency. The taunting, and abuse that comes from this form of parasitism. And even how getting rid of it has an impact.

I thought the way the animorphs and the author handled the situation was well done. It was a good read, but also uncomfortable (in an appropriate way).
