finished reading Northern Lights by Philip Pullman (His dark materials -- bk. 1)

Philip Pullman: Northern Lights (Paperback, 2007, Scholastic)

Philip Pullman has created a fantasy world, where demons swoop and scuttle along the streets …

Well, I didnt expect to enjoy that as much as I did, I think I've restarted it without finishing it a bunch since I last read it around 2010 - 2012, and I was looking forward to the last book ih the series the most. But yeah, there's a reason that this is a classic. And Panserbjorne deserve to become fantasy staples like elves etc.

Poul Anderson: The Broken Sword (Paperback, 2008, Gollancz)

Released the the same year as LOTR (I think), this viking esq low fantasy where both the devil and Odin play parts is really doing it for me. Trashy but punchy. You can feel the influence this had on Moorecock. I'm very glad I finally got round to it.
