Review of 'Wickwire Watch' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

Buckle up, readers!

I'm a sucker for whole new worlds to take me out of this one.

The Wickwire Watch propels you into a bird's eye view of intrigue, adventure, social class hierarchies, and companionship. We follow a young thief, leery of others, left with no choice but to trust someone other than himself.

I've read a lot of fantasy, especially series. I can honestly say I've never come across something like this. The overarching story lines and the in-between adventures offers a balance like no other. I love the multi-generational aspect, as well (we mostly get Inkwell's perspective in this book, but that's bound to diversify as the plot thickens...).

We are introduced to a vivacious group of characters (the diversity completing the whole!), places, and a trickle effect from a tragic massacre years ago that isn't what it seems on the surface. This is a whirlwind of a set up for upcoming novels in The Riverfall Chronicles to delve deeper into characters' pasts, righting wrongs, and, overall, learning how - and who - to trust.
