Only since I've finished the book did I look at some of the criticisms. For the most part, I think they are unfounded. This was a book that was "a page turner" that I didn't want to put down. It is told through the eyes of High School children. Just like a student at this age, their 'real' personas are just beginning to sprout-- even to themselves.
