Someone on GoodReads commented on this book "I feel like I read a whole book and somehow missed the entire plot", and that exactly describes my reading experience. The plot was so confusing and going nowhere, the characters sometimes seemed interchangeable because they lacked any real personality, and some scenes in the book felt like "Is this happening right now, or is it something someone tells me has happened?" It's a pity because it seemed interesting and I initially read it because I wanted to read the sequel... which I'm now not sure I'll ever read, tbh.
