Pat Pattison: Song-writing without boundaries (Paperback, 2011, Writer's Digest)

Best work book I had in my hands ever. Actually this book is a 6 week course in songwriting. There are small, manageable everyday tasks taking between 10 and 30 minutes. One task per day, getting gradually more complicated and building up on each other. You learn how to do object writing that helps you to draw listeners (or readers) into your narration, you learn to craft well understandable metaphors and analogies, you learn to rhyme in way that helps your message, you learn to write in a useful rhythm and you learn to combine all these lessons into writing great lyrics. In only 6 weeks - what more can you want?

Ok, writing the music. Well, there are other books for that.
