Having recently read Ulysses fully for the first time, I was expecting more of this book. Perhaps it should not be read simy as a set of short stories, but - as I've seen elsewhere - allegories, pastiche etc.

A pleasant enough read, although the setting in the early 20th century now seems very distant, and the world changed immeasurably.
