I picked this up in Japanese because I heard the English version is now out.
I had no idea who the author was but I was just curious - if it's translated into English, it must be good.

The way he writes is very poetic with very long metaphors almost every other sentence.
I can see a bit of magic realism which I am not too crazy about.
I dunno. Guess I didn't get it.

Latest from Haruki Murakami. Read it on Kindle. I usually enjoy his short stories and this one was no exception. I liked the last two stories "Shinagawa Zaru(Shinagawa Monkey)" and "Ichininshou Tansu (First person singular).

Disclaimer: I read this in Japanese. This is probably the second Onda book I read. I heard about this book on The Next Chapter and had to immediately download the Japanese version. I read it in one day. Super mysterious and intriguing. I had a hunch I probably won't find out who the murderer was. I won't say I was right or not. I also thought it was a shame as I'm sure some parts of the Japanese original version won't translate into English, such as Kanji spelling of character names. I'd be curious to pick up the English version just to see how it's done.
Really intriguing, mysterious, fast read. I enjoyed it.

Ted Chiang: Exhalation (Paperback) 4 stars

The title piece "Exhalation" didn't do much for me, but the first story "The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate" (time travel), "The Lifecycle of Software Objects" (Relationship with AI), "The Truth of Fact, the Truth of Feeling" (human memory and its error), "Anxiety is the Dizziness of Freedom" (parallel universe) were all memorable.

I'm a huge fan of My Favourite Murder the podcast. I have gone to see their live shows and took photos with Karen and Georgia. I also got my name called out on a show when I pointed something out....so it was natural for me to pick up this book.
I love Karen and Georgia's no nonsense honesty. Biggest takeaway and my favourite part of the book was the quote from Georgia's Grandma. "Bigger dummies than you..."
Bigger dummies than you have written a book.
Bigger dummies than you have started a business.
This phrase gave me hope.
Bigger dummies than I have done amazing things.
So, why not me?
