I read this over 25 years ago before traveling to Spain, then years later stumbled on a copy of a 2 volume edition in a 2nd hand shop. Been sitting on the shelf for years, decades... Holds up well, I love the way Michener describes his surrounds, even if it was from another thirty years earlier. Some things change enormously, some won't

I guess I need to re-read volume 2 now ... which I have done. Goodreads seems confused since both volumes have the same ISBN
