I've read Hero of Ages at least four times and every time is a thrill. I was already on board with the previous two Mistborn novels, but this was the one that solidified my love for Brandon Sanderson's work. No spoilers but the ending of this book is anime as hell and I am hooked on it. This isn't a grounded fantasy epic, it is a shonen anime as the written word.

I went into this completely blind and was not disappointed! Taylor Jenkins Reid's writing drew me in immediately and I devoured this story from cover to cover. I took a break in the middle because the emotional rollercoaster of Evelyn's love story was breaking my heart. But by the end, I was at peace with Evelyn and where the story took me. While I loved this book, I actually didn't like Evelyn herself very much as a person. I think that was the idea, kind of like a Miranda Presley character who you respect but don't like. I found the framing device using Monique as an interviewer was unnecessary but didn't detract from the experience. I'll definitely be reading this one again.
