During the second half of the story I skimmed a lot more than reading closely because I just couldn't care less about the characters.

In the author's note, Jenner then says that the whole story is fictional and hardly based on historic events at all. I had expected some artistic freedom in the novel.. but it being completely made up? What's the point?

I'm very disappointed.
