Poul Anderson: The Broken Sword (Paperback, 2002, Gollancz) 4 stars

A Brutal Tragic Fantasy

3 stars

I decided to read The Broken Sword when I learned The Cromcast would be covering the book this season. It's a brutal story, full of violence and complex characters. I was captivated by the first half of the novel as characters were introduced, but the battles and headlong rushes into disaster of the second half didn't work nearly so well for me.
