After reading Akira Kurosawa's autobiography I now want to read his assistant's biography on him.
I still prefer the first book even though reviews say this is better. The protagonist has changed from Alex Benedict to his pilot Chase Kolpath which felt weird but works well. There is 15 years in between publishing of the first book in the series, A Talent For War (1989), and this one (2004) which explains some changes in writing and perhaps in Alex's character.
I feel like I'm done with the series, at least for now, but I might still read the next book Seeker at some point. Seeker finally managed to win the Nebula Award after nominations for the previous books and is considered the best in the series but that would definitely be the end of it.
