The first half of the book was extremely slow, to many details for a non English native. The second half picked up the pace but I still keep a feeling of 'wasn't enough'.

Maybe it's just not my kind of book and I need more charismatic characters.

Nowadays I don't read as much, this is just my second book of the year, and this book was light enough to be finished quickly.

The history and characters are good but not great, not many surprises.

The last third has more action and really got me hooked.

I was expecting more for the book, I liked illustrations and some stories but others were way too long for me. I guess not every Valyrian King was as interesting as Aegon. Not every kingdom as interesting as the North.

But people with more patience will surely like this more than me.

I was hoping it would be a mediocre story but it's quite good. Same old Veronica.

I am happy I read/heard it. There is no need to be a marshmallow for reading it but it will make it more enjoyable.

The last pages about the Soviet army taking the Reichstag and the ex-soldier commenting what was the worst for him just makes worthy all the reading.

Maybe the book is not for people that already knows a lot about WWII but it is a great book for new comers or people who want to know more from the Soviet side of the war.

There are some good stuff but, honestly, I can't stand the "scientific" bits. Too boring for me.

But all the human (or not human) relationships are good.

I've doubted between 3 or 4 stars.
