It’s interesting to read this book, and see how much still applies to the world of sport in Japan. The book mainly focuses on football, but in doing so provides an in depth look into modern Japanese culture, society, and international politics.

It’s not overly dense, and expects no prior knowledge of Japan, the J.League, or really football in general.

With references to old team names and such; it may be old, but much of what it touches on is still relevant. A follow up would be greatly appreciated.

Starting off strong so far. Loving the slight change of tone from book 1, Leviathan Wakes. Quite a bit of action compared to political and noir themes of the previous opening. Can’t wait to read more!

It’s been a long time since I actually sat down and read a book to completion. This was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes sci-fi, especially those who like Battlestar Galactica.

Fair consequences. While there is heavy plot armor, the consequences that characters receive are usually equal to that of their adversaries. That makes for an extremely entertaining arch.

So many thematic shift throughout this book always keep me on my toes and leave lingering thoughts after I step away.

I still prefer Holden’s tone over Miller’s verbose monologues, but it’s nothing some quality quotes can’t fix!

Fell asleep last night while reading. So far, I’m enjoying Holden’s story more than Miller’s. The books great, I just like the sci-fi more than cop-thriller.

Way more compelling than the TV adaptation so far!

Can be pretty dull at times but is an easy read.
