I read this about five or six years ago, and what I remember about it most are a profound dislike for the main character/narrator and a deep sense of disappointment because I had been so intrigued by the blurb and the general reception of the book. It just didn't meet my expectations at all, and I decided that Javier Marias might just not be for me.
