Thomas C Foster: How to Read Literature Like a Professor: A Lively and Entertaining Guide to Reading Between the Lines (2017) 3 stars

How to Read Literature Like a Professor

3 stars

A pleasant guide, with plenty of examples, of what to "look for" when reading fiction, and a solid list of recommendations of novels to read at the end. Foster's experience at a branch campus of a major university led him to encounter non-traditional students, which I think is a tremendous asset in his tone and recommendations, and makes this a book written for a much broader audience than 18-year-old college freshmen.
