An introduction to Scalzi's next book, Lock In. It's the story of Haden's syndrome, a pandemy that happens in a relatively close future. A lot of deads in the first phase, and a number of people end up conscious in an almost-completely paralyzed body (essentially, their heart beats, they can breathe, and that's pretty much it). Unlocked tells us the story of the beginning of this epidemy and the response that is made to the subsequent issues, in the form of testimonies and interviews of people who witness it. It essentially reads itself, and it's definitely building the excitement for Lock In.
