Time for, well, not a distraction so much as a palate cleanser: a truly phenomenal shot from Hubble of a galaxy that is rippling like a pond that had a rock tossed in it… because that's what happened! Kinda.
And YES you want to grab the hi-res version.

Trump and the GOP are in a full-out war against science.
I have a lot to say about that.

So hey, did I ever tell you about the time Hubble LOOKED AT THE SUN?

If you need a break from what will no doubt be a LOT of bleak political discussion today, may I suggest a pair of spectacularly gorgeous images of colliding galaxies taken using Hubble and JWST?

Lovely conjunction between the #Moon and Venus after #sunset! Saturn, Jupiter and Mars are also visible at the same time. Uranus is up there too, but it's not visible without a telescope. (EDIT: Neptune too, close to Saturn)
If you're in a dark enough location to see the #MilkyWay, this is a nice chance to notice that the plane of our Solar System is inclined about 60º with respect to the disc of the Milky Way.

Hi! I'm a Libra! Except not really. But the zodiac is a real thing, even if it's not at all what astrologers claim it is.

Teeny tiny galaxies may have a lot in common with dogs farting in cars.
