After the steady establishment and set up in Lirael, Abhorsen picks up right where the last left off and runs. The fast pace of Abhorsen makes for a compelling read as our characters race to protect the Kingdom and world from an ancient evil.
The end of Lirael switches the dynamic between our main characters with Sam finding strength to overcome his fear and to believe in himself. There are so many moving parts in the finale and we received additional POVs which added depth to what was happening throughout the Kingdom and beyond. As we race towards the satisfying ending, we get obvious worldbuilding reveals as well as hints and it makes one excited to pick up more books in set in the Old Kingdom.
