I read this in either late middle-school or early high school when I was devouring every book in the library that showed up with I searched for "music" in the old computer system. If you've read this, you are undoubtedly aware this book has nothing to do with music. I remember being extremely perplexed reading this, thinking that the author was maybe, almost, just about to get to the MUSIC part. Suffice it to say he never got there, and I finished the book substantially confused.

Reflecting on the book now, the premise seems extremely offensive to women, and aside from the interesting sci-fi aspect, I'd avoid this one.
