Just finished reading it and, I can see why many people did not care for it. It really appears to be a bridge between the first three books and the next two. Not a lot of action per se but rather an opportunity for concepts to be explored.

I enjoyed it but not necessarily as much as the first three which i consider a masterpiece of science fiction.
