A collection of essays on politics, technology, and the environment. I particularly enjoyed 'One Nation Under Elvis' (about class and environmentalism), 'In Haiti, Words Can Kill' (on the harm of the word 'looting'), 'Icebergs and Shadows' (on the civic society that endures despite capitalism), and 'On the Dirtiness of Laundry' (rescuing Thoreau's reputation).
