I'm not giving this book a start rating. It wasn't a book for me. That doesn't make it bad, but it does mean I can't fairly review it.
I also don't want to give it a rating because I suspect the translation is part of what makes it weird. It read like Finnish-in-English and felt clunky.
If you want to read something really different, do give it a try. I'm glad I finished it, but it was tough going for a while.

I liked this book, but I also found it infuriating. It doesn't hand you answers, just a lot of questions. Some of the answers are fairly obvious, some are not, and I at least find that there are some very big questions that the concepts in the book bring up that aren't dealt with at all. I'd love to know whether that is because I'm supposed to accept them not applying as a central conceit of the book, or if them not being considered are supposed to reflect on the narrator protagonist, or if, less likely I think, the author came up with this concept and was so focused on all the other bits that she never thought "write, this aspect is really fucked up!"
