She's so refreshing! Part of it, I'm sure, is that I agree with her on overall death and body philosophy; my husband knows, for instance, that when I die I would just as soon he (or whoever's in charge) just dig a hole and dump me in. Of course, the other option is body farm where they can study me for deterioration for future forensic studies.
In any event, I enjoyed straightforward attitude and answers. I know it's unreasonable, but I really hadn't realized that fingernails and hair continuing to grow after death is a myth. Of course, I should have, but, even as a scientist, I just don't think strings through all the time. Sigh. Anyway, I appreciate the addressing of (potentially uncomfortable) death rituals and truths to children normally just get blown off by adults. These things are important to EVERYONE, and taking out scare and gory factor can be so calming for everyone involved – and we all will be at one point…
