Review of "The Mind's Eye. by Oliver Sacks" on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

Perception, visualization, seeing… How are they all related and distinct? If a person "sees" the world only through hearing and feeling, do they actually see? What if they visualize in their mind concurrently? What if, when they "see", they are unable to ultimately recognize? If someone can "see faces", but not recognize people by them? Or what about if they can read letters, but they can't tell what words said letters represent?
I own a couple of Oliver Sacks's books, but is been way too long since I read The Man Mistook His Wife for a Hat (I believe his first major work), but he continues to be thoughtful, complete, informative, and able to teach! This book continues to represent his abilities and intelligence using examples of his own patients, other practitioners' experiences, and even himself! It's unfortunate that he passed (in 2015 I believe) :-(.
