The plot itself is pretty good, but the writing is spotty at best. My original feeling was that it was a high schoolers writing assignment, but it did get better from there. But seriously, she was talking about salamanders…? or lizards…? or general reptiles…? It definitely could've stood a little bit of better editing. But the surprise villain was kind of a nice twist, and I liked the buildups and dismissals of other potential suspects. As I say, the plot itself had merits.
