I love all of Maberry's works that include Joe Ledger. This new series is an excellent continuation of the Department of Military Science's favorite punching bag and his team of Spec Op shooters. I would highly recommend anyone who enjoys Spec Op Sci-Fi with a little humor and love thrown in there to read the Joe Ledger series, but make sure you read the first generation of novels before diving into this one.

While I did enjoy the entirety of the novel, the parts where "the darkness" is in-charge of Joe's mind (which I totally get it... it's part of the whole thing of "Modern Man vs. Warrior vs. Killer"), the story feels very dull. Even when we're with Top and Bunny or other characters, I felt like I wanted to get back with Joe for his humor, one-liners, and awesome after-action reporting.
