This last chapter of Dodsworth ends with Sam returning to the US and disillusioned with his home country. We get pages of rants from Ross Ireland, a foreign correspondent Sam is traveling with. He finds New York ugly, noisy, and overly-devoted to the American God of Speed. Prohibition is called out for its idiocy, and they keep mentioning US foreign affairs as morally wrong.
