We will never eliminate racism until we eliminate capitalism. Capitalism profits too much, directly and indirectly, from the black bodies imprisoned to let their source of power, control, and profit go.

As a society we've allowed ourselves to believe, because white folk occasionally get caught up in the system, that Justice is colorblind. We allow ourselves to believe that we can't be racist because no mention of race is mentioned in the law. Michelle Alexander disabuses is of that notion forthwith, and reminds us that piecemeal reform had never brought the lasting, meaningful change that society needs to break out of its toxic pathology of racism.

As Lucy Parsons said a century ago, "Never be deceived that the rich will allow you to vote away their wealth." There's too much profit to be had in systemic racism.
