Review of 'Dreams Before the Start of Time' on 'Goodreads'

Awful. A series of largely disconnected vignettes about the future of childbirth and family. Every single person is deeply broken and every family is dysfunctional, which says more about the author than it does the human condition. To make things especially bad, the book uses the present tense and pointlessly switches between third and first person in a way that smacks of pretension without substance. Cardboard cut-out characters in a crude crayon imitation of a narrative. This could have been a good, if forgettable, short story.
