I read the Baroque Cycle over a span of almost ten months. The books are quite intricate, develop quite slowly – and I still really, really liked them. The historical facts are often so interesting that one ends up reading Wikipedia articles about 17th century London or Shahjahanabad, and the characters are also interesting – perhaps especially the ones based on historical figures.
