Review of 'Night Theater' on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

3.5 stars rounded up. The one half star rating I wish Goodreads had because I use it ALL the time.

I did this book a disservice at the very end because I was listening to it via audiobook at night as I was getting pretty sleepy. I missed some things at the very end.

I went into this book blind, so I didn’t know what to expect. That made it more fun in this case. I liked the premise and the way the family’s story had layers to it. The surgeon’s characterization was great. I think a movie or even stage play of this would be fantastic. It’s very dialogue heavy, but also has a bit of a thriller feel sometimes.

The book gets a bit into questions of life and how far we would go to deny death. But it doesn’t become an entirely philosophical exploration.

It gets a 3.5 because I was definitely bored at times, not always fully invested. Per usual for me, I’d prefer the intensity even higher to really love it. I don’t think I’ll remember much of this in the long run.
